I was sent this song by a friend who is in immense pain right now. She wonders if she is able to praise despite her circumstances. I have no answers. When in the dark, it is hard, so hard, to praise. It is hard to lift your weary eyes, your broken heart towards a loving Father when we don’t understand how He could let certain things happen in our lives.
As I put this song on, I began to weep and pray. I prayed for those who are in horribly sad circumstances. Even though I didn’t have the words to pray, I know that my tears were my prayer today.
…the one who is feeling a ‘mountain weight’
….the one who is crying that ‘ocean of tears’
….the one who is facing a trial of imaginable proportions
….the one whose ‘fight seems lost’
…the one who is ‘hurting like hell’
…the one who is in circumstances that make no sense
… the one who has separated from a spouse
…the one who just received the news that their mom has only months to live
…. the one who lost a child last week
….the one who lost their mom last week
….the one who cannot understand why they cannot have a child of their own
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. Rom.8:26-27
