I saw this cute post on social media today. It is sweet, that’s for sure! Who can resist a kitten and 2 pugs?!? But I also saw something more in it that I thought I would share.

Sometimes I think that we feel just like that little kitten when faced with evil. We see the darkness in front of us and just like the kitten, it looks big, it looks scary, it sounds loud, and we feel small and powerless. We want to cover our eyes and have it go away. “God!” we cry, “save me!!”

But look what happens the moment the kitten advances towards the dogs. They begin to cower.

We have Christ within us, the hope of glory.

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?       – 1 Cor.6:19

For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.      – Col.2:9-10

Scripture tells us that the Spirit lives within us, the Spirit of the Risen Christ. This is who the darkness fears. You bring a candle into a room, and guess what? Darkness cannot stay – the light always triumphs. In the same way, we do not have to fear the darkness, we do not have to fear evil. We advance towards it and it must flee. This is not because of who we are… it’s because of who He is, in us.

Whenever the evil spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God!”   – Mark 3:11

You may feel like a tiny kitten, but the spiritual reality is this:

The darkness knows it. The evil sees the Lion inside you. And the darkness must always bow to the mighty name of Jesus.

Be encouraged. En-courage-d.

  1. Thank you so much for the reminder, and I just had a great release by the laughter when I saw that video. I hope you won’t mind if I share this on Facebook.
