Christ’s Friend

Standard

This is week 2 of renewing my mind through the Word of God, as it says in Rom.12:2: Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, perfect and pleasing will.

Truth for this week: I am Christ’s friend.

John 15:5  ” I am the vine, you are the branches. If someone remains in me and I in them, they will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. ”   (NIV)

I was struck by this later on in John 15 (v.14) when Jesus says, “You are my friends if you do what I command“.

And what has Christ commanded?  Just a few verses before, Jesus states, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”

Ah, yes. It’s all about love. (Are we surprised? 🙂 )

Jesus also says, “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you” (Jn 15:15)

Jesus, please let this truth sink deep into our spirits. Help us to understand this week what it means to be your friend. Please reveal to us what you have learned from the Father. And give us the opportunity and the courage to love others in the way that you loved us!
