A prayer for my friend

Standard

O my friend, so precious to the Father’s heart…

You have carried so much on your shoulders for so long. You suppress it well behind your smile, behind your concerned questions, your care for others. Your heart is so tender.

But in your voice, in your heart, I hear it:  the fear that enslaves you.

Deep down, it seeps up from the well of your soul. And you try, you try so hard to keep it down. You try to stay in control, even though your emotions feel out of control. You battle and fight it… that cold fear.

And you know what? You fight hard, my friend. So hard. No one will fault you for your fight.

But you are weary.

… so tired, so weary.

You are so burdened by the fight.

O my friend, would that I could take those burdens, those heavy burdens from your bowed shoulders…

We both know Someone who can.

Will you let them go?

Will you lay them down in those nail-scarred hands that cradled stars in their infancy?

For His are such capable hands. He knows, oh how he knows your heart, sweet one. He knows the burdens, he knows the heaviness, the weariness, the despair, the thoughts that plague, and how you try to hold it all yourself. He knows all the fears that plague you. He understands you. He wants you to come, to lay down those burdens in his lap.

Will you let go… and let Him?

I called on your name, O Lord, from the depths of the pit. You heard my plea: “Do not close your ears to my cry for relief.”  You came near when I called you, and you said, “Do not fear.”                           Lamentations 3:55-57

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.       Ps. 34:4

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit     Ps. 34:18

Jesus, deliver my friend. She loves you so, but is so burdened right now. Please give her peace. Take the fear away. Give her rest. Soothe her spirit with your gentle Spirit-touch. Help her to let go of those heavy burdens.

  1. That was such a heart felt prayer. It truly is sad to see people suffer, when Jesus suffered so we would not have to. What a wonderful God we serve and even with that, he no longer calls us servants but friends, and children. Praise God!
