We had a brief conversation, she and I. We seem worlds apart in terms of… well, most things…

She wears her tattoos proudly on her shoulders and arms. She sports piercings, and dyed hair done up in knots.

I asked her how school was going. “Good”, she replied. “It’s hard, but good…”

“Do you enjoy the program?”

“Yah… I mean, it’s better than, ya know, just bein’ at home… bored… doing nothing…”
